OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS HAVE LANDED..

Hello from sunny Eugene!  With a little over 24 hours until the third IAAF Diamond League meeting, we caught up with Olympic gold medallists Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Omar McLeod as they checked in at the athletes' hotel today.

Though they are from different countries and compete in very different events, they are good friends and share the same agency: On Track Management.

Miller-Uibo will compete over 200m this weekend, taking on an all-star cast that includes Elaine Thompson, Dafne Schippers, Allyson Felix and Tori Bowie.

"It’s really exciting," she said. "I can’t wait to go out there and compete. It’s a great field of girls and it's more than likely going to be a fast time that’s going to drop, so I’m excited to see what will happen. Everything is going well, training has been going extremely well.

We’ve been working on a few different things and hopefully it’ll play out by the end of the season when it really counts."

And is she still planning a 200m/400m double at the IAAF World Championships in London?

"Definitely. We’re looking to double this year if things go well. The main goal is to stay injury-free for the year and hopefully that will bring the results."

McLeod, meanwhile, will compete agaisnt a host of the world's best sprint hurdlers, including world record-holder Aries Merritt, 2013 world champion David Oliver, Olympic bronze medallist Dimitri Bascou and European indoor champion Andrew Pozzi. Given he had plenty of time to kill as he waited for his room to be ready we asked the Jamaican what his hopes are for Saturday's race:

"I wish you wouldn’t ask me after a five-hour flight!  But my goal is just to have fun and compete hard as always. I hate being asked about times because I never think about times when I compete, I always just try to run and have fun. In the hurdles, it’s always a great line-up, you’re guaranteed to run something fast when you go up against a stacked field. As long as I execute well and have a great race, I know something magical will happen. This is a fast track and the atmosphere is exhilarating and always gets us going. I’m looking forward to a great meet."
